While I was away sunning myself, the 1st team were back in action against Bowden. It was a match I was sorry to miss. Injury and availability meant that Jaish Talib was called into action from the 2nd team and what a start; beating Jamie Chalcraft in 3 games.
With everyone pushed up a place, it was always going to be tough. Rob Taylor had a monumental battle with Matt Lowery going 2 games to 1 down, then fighting back to win 3:2. Ameel Talib, playing 3rd string, did not have enough to overcome Jacob Robinson.
Adam Taylor was in another 5-setter but final lost out to Pete Billson in the fifth game. Andy Whipp had just edged ahead of Nick Wall leading 2:1 when Nick injured himself and had to retire.
So the team ended up winning 3:2 on the night to maintain the slender lead from the first half.
